A minor controversy has emerged at the Rutledge household among two loving yet hard-headed parents over the correct word to use when describing what two overjoyed, shrieking boys are wearing when they are stripped down to their diapers for one last romp through the playroom before bedtime.
Are the boys in their skivvies or their skimpies?
Please weigh in to help settle the disagreement before professional help is sought. ;-)

Skivvies
I'm going to have to go with 'skivvies' also. Sorry to the loser parent :-)

Always were referred to as skivvies at the Bill Rutledge household. CER
Skivvies is the word I have heard used in that situation. gj
I would have to go with skivvies as well. We called it a "birthday suit" when our kids were younger!
....well, personally, I've never heard the word skimpies used, but I've decided to side with Amy on this one because I like the way skimpies sounds. It conjures up an image of droopy diapers on cute boy bottoms for me. Thanks Amy!:-))
Well, thanks Rutledge family. Now the great skivvie/skimpie schism has erupted in the Guthrie family also. We are scheduled for the marriage counselor for tomorrow morning.
BTW, Amy . . . SKIVVIES!!!!!!
Gotta go with skivvies.
